The Lords Supper: This is no ordinary meeting

God sent his son to die for us; to set us free, to liberate us from the claws of death. He saved us from us ending up in hell; a place where we all deserve to be. I may think that I am a good person -and maybe I am a good person but that is not enough. I am not dealing here with something that I can achieve in my own human strengths; there is nothing I will be able to control once I die, once I die my soul no longer live in the body given to me. That’s it I checked out of this world and there is no coming back. At that time my time is up; I have either accepted Christ – and his gift of salvation, while I walked this earth, or I have denied him and stand condemned.

John 3:16-18 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.

God the father shows us this is an amazing display of love, something that we will never be able to experience or match -sacrificing his own son to save us. This is the ultimate sacrifice anyone could have ever done for us, never mind me, for anyone. Jesus -who also showed us an amazing obedience and love, taught us many things while he walked in this earth; he showed us many miracles and instruct us how to live and love. One of the commands he gave us is to gather regularly in his name, to gather together and remember his sacrifice; the cost of it.
